A Newborn's Future

Recently I was invited to visit my teacher and her newborn baby in the countryside. The director of the school drew a map for me and instructed me to call my teacher's neighbour when I made it to the commune. My teacher's house did not have a phone. It was an adventure.

My friend and I hired a taxi as we were also bringing along her 16-month old girl. The taxi driver missed the mark and we got lost. We asked him to turn back and tried to look for it again. He tried to ask the locals on the way and we finally made it to the commune. I tried to call my teacher's neighbour but to my disappointment we were not able to communicate.

was amazed when the driver started asking people in the commune. It seemed that they all knew each other, even the children could explain clearing about the people we were looking for and how we could get there. The commune was like a maze and I was impressed when the driver got us to the door of my teacher's house.

The visit was brief but meaningful. I really appreciate their simplicity of country life. They have truly testified to the importance of people relationships in Vietnam.

I had prayed for my teacher to have this baby even before she conceived. I wonder what God has planned for this little fellow.

May he be a light of Christ for his commune and his country.
