Thanh Hoa Province links Northern Vietnam with Central Vietnam. Thanh Hoa provincial town is about 200 km south of the capital, Hanoi. The population of over 3.5 million people (2003) is the highest in Northern Vietnam. It spans an area of 11,000 square km, making it the second largest in the Northern Vietnam.

Thanh Hoa is known for its strong military presence throughout its history because of its strategic location. But it is also known for being one of the poorest areas in Vietnam, due to frequent natural disasters and the high population.

There is a presence of Christians but it is fairly insignificant, although some Hmong Christians are also found in Thanh Hoa Province. One development agency did a survey of poor households in southern part of the Province, and found an unusual number of people with mental problems. Spiritual darkness hovers around the area. Yet, we know that God will not abandon those he has created.

May the spirit of God cast out the power of darkness and restore His image of righteousness on the people in Thanh Hoa Province.
